Montgomery County Junior Councils, or MCJC, is a county wide SGA. Their mission is to raise student advocacy and voices in all the middle schools of the county, and in some cases, the entire state, due to their relation with the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC).
At their 1st executive board meeting, they had donated stuffed animals to Bryanna’s Love. This organization is a non-profit that donates these cuddly, soft animals to kids who are battling cancer, in order to make them feel better. The previous MCJC executive board raised $1,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit organization that gives children with life-threatening medical issues a ‘wish’ like experience. One of the Make-A-Wish Foundation staff had personally came to the meeting to thank the MCJC of their work.

Q. What is MCJC?
The MCJC officers responded, “MCJC is an organization where all of the student council organizations from various schools across Montgomery county meet to discuss issues that are of importance to them and make a difference within our community.”
Q. What are you goals for next year?
A. This year, the MCJC officers want to expand MCJC, so every middle schools in the county is informed and involved in advocacy, for issues that students truly care about. Also to aid MCR in any way possible.
Q. What are you thoughts on MCJC next year?
A. To apply transitions smoothly as possible and hopefully work with the current SMOB, to allow cell phones during lunch to all the middle schools next year.
Q. What will be different, if anything?
A. This year’s MCJC executive board has increased its number of students engagement, thus giving more student awareness around the county.
