Joshua Omolola - VP of MASC

What does the Maryland Associations of Students Councils do?

“The mission of MASC is to foster a statewide environment for all secondary school students to express and exchange opinions and ideas, develop leadership skills, and promote student representation and involvement in all groups and organizations impacting the lives of students.”

What is your job as first Vice President of MASC?

“My job is centered around coordinating with Regional Presidents. Aside from my duties as 1st Vice President, I have set goals as a state leader to visit as many Regions as possible within my tenure as 1st VP. Thus far I have visited 10 out of the 16 regions in MD. I campaigned on increasing Mental Awareness in Maryland. This has been determined to fulfill the promises I have made. Therefore, I've been working on a Mental Awareness Day for MASC focused on issues we face everyday in school and our communities.”

What experiences do you have as being a student leader?

“I have had several student leadership experiences through my 5 years in student council, starting from my local school SGA to the state level. These experiences include: being on the executive board for Parkdale High School SGA, serving as a leader at my food pantry, and actively serve with my city council.”

What do you think about the student leadership organizations in Montgomery County like MCJC and MCR?

“I’ve visited several Maryland regions and everyone is individually unique in its own way & MCJC, MCR are no exception. I’ve taken particular interest in MCJC. MCJC is the only middle school region in Maryland which I believe encourages many other regions to include more middle school students.”
